Want to Advance your collection?

Whether you have been collecting art for generations or you’ve just begun, taking stock of your collection can breathe new life into your experience of art. Some collections cohere around a style, some around a theme, some around a color scheme, while others express an eclectic approach to collecting. No matter your collecting practice, your collection brings you and those around you joy, and being able to share that enthusiasm with others only amplifies your appreciation of art.

There are a variety of reasons you may want to create a digital catalog for your collection, and we can work together to achieve your goals for this project and collecting beyond. Having a digital platform to showcase your collection can help you in the following ways, to name a few:

  • Understanding and reflecting on the scope and breadth of your collection

  • Sharing the collection with friends and family, and fellow art collectors

  • Promoting your artists’ careers

  • Demonstrating your commitment to collecting and advancing in the art collecting world

  • Advertising your collection for sales purposes

Outline of process

We will establish the purpose for the project;

Review the size of the collection, the quality of the photographs, the state of documentation;

Evaluate the scope of the project and the appropriate package;

Plan the execution of the project.

intake meeting

All existing documentation, sale information, appraisals, images, artwork details, exhibition information, provenance, and location history will be uploaded and organized into the private database.

Information missing will be sought out: artworks with insufficient photography will be re-photographed; Michaela will contact previous sellers for documentation and provenance history; Michaela will research the exhibition history and literature on the artworks.

Database management

A private digital interface will be developed to showcase the collection, in line with the vision discussed at the beginning. Artworks will have written descriptions with exhibition history and reference to the artist’s practice, as well as distinct artist profiles with updated news. Thematic collections will showcase trends and commonalities between pieces in the collection.

Michaela will meet with you upon completion of every 10 artworks for review and refinement.

When the entirety of the collection is curated online, Michaela will walk you through the interface, review the work, and revise as necessary.

digital Library

After meeting about the digital catalogue, Michaela will consider your perception of the collection with regards to her perception of the collection through her previous work. Michaela will report on the trends of artworks, artists and styles, and cohere this analysis into a narrative of the collection, suggesting how to advance the collection according to the findings.
